510 Drip Tip vs 810 Drip Tip: All You Need to Know About Drip Tips

Drip tips are also an important part of a vape device. We tend to focus on coils, tanks and batteries, but a comfortable drip tip is also very important for a satisfactory vape experience.

The two most common types of drip tips are the 510 drip tip and the 810 drip tip. The first one gives a tighter airflow, while the latter one is better for cloud chasing and vapor production.

Drip tips and size: 510 Drip Tip vs 810 Drip Tip

A drip tip is a mouthpiece designed to inhale the vapor produced in the atomizer. As mention in the introduction, the most common sizes are 510 and 810 drip tips. Most of drip tips come with rubber o-rings and they are very easy to fit onto the atomizer.

Drip tips could be made of many different materials such as stainless steel, glass, wood, Delrin drip tips and a long etcetera.

Usually a 510 drip tip has a thread with an 8.5 mm diameter while 810 drip tips usually are 12.5 mm in diameter. For cloud chasers and sub-ohm devices, 810 drip tips are the standard size, and they are typically used for direct to lung (DTL) vaping style.

There are two things you must consider before choosing a drip tip: material and vaping style.

Some materials are better for cloud chasing and vaping and high wattages. For example, plastic drip tips such as Delrin or PEI drip tips are ideal for high-wattage vaping and sub-ohm vaping. On the other hand, if you care about appearance, then stainless-steel, glass drip tips and wood drip tips are a good choice for you.

If we talk about diameter, then it is quite simple. Wider drip tips (810 drip tips) are better for cloud chasing. On the other hand, if you prefer a mouth-to-lung vaping or flavor, then 510 drip tips are a better option for you.

Plastic Drip Tips

There are many types of plastic drip tips. These type of drip tips are heat resistant, shock proof and easy to match. On the other hand, they can crack.

Delrin

This is one of the most common materials. Polyoxymethylene (POM), often known as Delrin, is a thermoplastic characterized by its high strength, hardness, and rigidity. Delrin drip tips are heat resistant.

PEI

Commonly known as Ultem, PEI is a thermoplastic polyetherimide. This material is very popular nowadays because it is heat resistant and it doesn’t crack. For example, the Aspire GT and Aspire GT Mini come with PEI drip tips.

Resin

It’s one of the most common materials. Resin is high resistant, and they are available as 510 and 810 drip tips.

Glass Drip Tips

These drip tips are very stylish and elegant. In addition, glass drip tips are also heat resistant. On the other hand, glass drip tips are very easy to break. In short, you must take extra-care to protect these drip tips.

Wood Drip Tips

These drip tips are perhaps the most elegant of all. Furthermore, wood drip tips are heat resistant. However, they tend to accumulate e-juice and some people find them uncomfortable while in contact with the teeth.

Conclusion: Drip Tips

There are many materials for drip tips. If you want a tighter airflow, then you can choose a 510 drip tip, which is ideal for MTL vaping and flavor. On the other hand, if you are looking for more vapor production and bigger clouds, a 810 drip tip is a better option.

It depends on your preferences and what vaping style adapts to your vaping needs. However, in my opinion, Delrin and Resin drip tips are the best for daily vaping. If you are looking for more stylish designs, then you can choose glass, wood or stainless-steel ones. Nonetheless, remember that these drip tips are more fragile than plastic or thermoplastic drip tips.
