What is a Vaporless E-Cigarette?

Vaping is not only about huge vape clouds and lots of vapor. Many vapers prefer a discreet vaping experience. Pen styles usually produce some vapor although not as much as powerful mods. That is why, most of vapers choose pen style vapes for stealth vaping.

There is another type of vaping devices called “vaporless” that produce zero vapor. This kind of vaping devices are ideal for stealth vaping as they are practically undetectable.

Why a Vaporless E-Cigarette?

There are many reasons why vapers choose vaporless e-cigs. The main reason is the need for a discreet vaping. Stealth vaping is a better option for vaping outdoors. This kind of vaping device produces small quantities of vapor that is not easily spotted.

Vaporless e-cigs is a step forward. This vaporless e-cigs don’t have LED lights and they are of small size. Most of stealth vapes fit in the palm of your hand as they are intended as portable and discreet vapes.

There are also some techniques to improve the stealth vaping experience. For example, you can take short puffs, hide the LED light if your devices have one and obviously, vape pod vapes or disposable vapes that are specifically designed for stealth vaping.

Aspire has planned to launch of a new vapor-free vaping device that will offer a new stealth vaping experience. This device will allow you to vape with no vapor. In short, vaping will be practically undetectable. Moreover, these vaporless devices are disposable.

Vaping Isn’t Just About Huge Clouds

As previously mentioned, many vapers don’t care about cloud chasing. As a matter of fact, most of vapers aren’t cloud chasers! They prefer an effective and stealth vaping over huge clouds. Big vape clouds is fun, and it’s also a good choice for flavor chasers. However, nicotine intake and stealth vaping are more practical for daily vaping.

Vaporless e-cigarettes aren’t the same as zero vapor. Zero vapor is a vaping technique that consists of multiple short inhales, holding your breath and then exhaling with pursed lips. With a vaporless e-cigarette, you don’t need to learn any new vaping technique. A vaporless e-cigarette is vaped the same way as any other MTL vaping devices. In conclusion, it is much easier to stealth vape vaporless e-cigarettes than zero vape a pod system.

Aspire has developed a new vaporless vaping devices that will be available soon!

Can I Vape Terpenes? Is it Safe?

Terpenes have become increasingly popular for their potential medical properties. We have recently seen a boom in the consumption of terpenes in a wide variety of products. Terpenes are also a trend in the vaping industry, especially in the cannabis vaping industry where full-spectrum cannabis oils offer products rich in cannabinoids and terpenes.

Terpenes have started to gain notoriety for their potential therapeutic effects. As a matter of fact, terpenes have been used in aromatherapy for a long time and we know that terpenes can induce calmness, euphoria and even improve concentration.

There are more than 20000 identified terpenes and at least 100 different terpenes have been identified in cannabis.

What is a Terpene?

Terpenes are not flavorings, they are a class of hydrocarbons mostly found in plants, particularly in conifers. They are major components of rosin and turpentine.

Terpenes occur naturally in plants including cannabis. Some of these well-known terpenes are pinene, myrcene, linalool or limonene. These terpenes are found in many plants, including cannabis. For instance, myrcene, which is a common terpene found in mangoes, bays, and hops, is also found in many cannabis strains.

The entourage effect theory claims that terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids are more efficient together. In short, the act synergistically.

Some terpenes have been researched for its potential anti-inflammatory properties.

Is it Possible to Vape Terpenes?

Yes, it is. There are many cannabis producers offering full-spectrum cannabis oils. Most of terpenes for vaporization are ingredients in cannabis oils.

There are some botanical terps oils, but you will mainly find them in cannabis oils (both CBD and THC oils).

Most of terpene oils are sold as terpenes concentrates to be added into cannabis oils to enhance its flavor and medicinal properties. These terpenes are isolated from natural sources and are food-grade terpenes. In addition, these food-grade terpenes are free of cannabinoids, so they can be easily shipped anywhere in the country.

Terpenes and the Entourage Effect

The entourage effect theory is very popular in cannabis circles. This theory claims that cannabis works synergistically. In other words, flavonoids, cannabinoids, and terpenes provide better therapeutic effects when they are used together.

For example, many patients report that herbal cannabinoid-based non-pharmaceutical drugs have better antiemetic properties than THC pharmaceutical medicines such as Marinol.

There are so many terpenes that each of them has its own profile and potential therapeutic properties.

Most Common Terpenes

There are more than 20000 terpenes which means that we would need to write an entire encyclopedia to classify and write the therapeutic effects of each of them. The most popular terpenes for their therapeutic properties are:

1. Limonene

This terpene is found in citruses and it’s also a common cannabinoid found in cannabis. According to webmd, limonene may prevent cancer by blocking cancer-forming chemicals and killer cells.

2. Linalool

This terpene is mainly found in lavender. Other plants produce this terpene as well. For example, citruses, mint, or laurel also produce linalool.

It has anti-anxiety and relaxation properties.

3. Pinene

There are two types of pinene terpenes: α-pinene and β-pinene. The first one, is commonly found in conifers while the latter one is found in cannabis.

α-pinene has potential anti-inflammatory properties and β-pinene could be used as a preservative.

4. Humulene

This terpene is found in hops. As many terpenes, it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

5. Caryophyllene

This terpene is found in black pepper and cloves. It may have potential digestive protective properties.

Vaping and Terpenes: Conclusion

Terpenes have been extensively used in aromatherapy. In addition, recent studies have found that terpenes have positive health effects (mainly anti-inflammatory properties).

Terpene extracts are available online and they can be mixed with cannabis oils and also other type of vape juices. Nonetheless, as terpenes are highly reactive molecules, we still don’t know if heating or vaping have a negative impact on their properties.

Best Wicking Material for Vaping: Some Facts You Need to Know About It

Probably you’ve heard many times how important it is to choose the right wick material for your vaping device. A good wick material is fundamental for a perfect e-liquid absorption. Moreover, the best wicking material for vaping needs to adapt to your personal preferences.

By far, the most popular and used wick material is cotton. This is because cotton is inexpensive and very efficient. As a result, it has become the most popular wick material.

However, cotton wasn’t always the most used and popular wick material for vaping devices. Back in old vaping days, silica wick was the most popular material. Nevertheless, it’s still used as a wick material for RDA atomizers.

I’m going to explain about the most common wicking materials used nowadays and why cotton is the most popular right now and regarded by many as the best wicking material for vaping.

Best Wicking Material for Vaping: What’s the Wicking Material?

The wicking material is just a material that absorbs e-liquid from the tank. In addition, the wicking material is designed to transport the perfect amount of e-liquid to the coil.

Nowadays, the wicking material is mostly all made of cotton because it’s inexpensive and it provides a neutral taste.

However, other wicking material are also quite popular and some vapers, specially those using RDA atomizers, use materials such as silica, ceramic, rayon or stainless steel.

Moreover, vaping sub-ohm atomizers have popularized cotton as the perfect wicking material. However, even for RDA and RTA atomizers, cotton is the most popular choice nowadays.

As a matter of fact, there are even many companies selling special cotton designed for wicking the coils. This cotton is generally untreated cotton (with no chemical treatments).

In other words, untreated cotton that won’t evaporate anything else but the e-liquid.

What Kind of Wicking Materials Are There?

There are multiple choices. For instance, cotton, silica, stainless steel, rayon or ceramic. However, as previously mentioned, the most common wick material is cotton. Nevertheless, there are also wick materials that are quite popular such as ceramic. For example, Aspire AVP AIO kit has ceramic coils.

Silica Wicks

Silica is mostly found in nature as quartz. In addition, as previously mentioned, they are mostly used in RDA atomizers.

Silica wicks were very popular because they don’t burn. In other words, silica wicks can last for a longer period.

However, its popularity has declined mainly because of two reasons:

  1. It’s not as easy to use and manipulate as cotton.
  2. It doesn’t transport the e-liquid with the same efficiency as cotton.

Therefore, cotton has replaced silica wicks as the most used and popular wick material.

Silica and Health Concerns

Some vapers are concerned about silica and silicosis, a serious respiratory disease caused by the inhalation of silica dust.

Silicosis is a serious, although rare, respiratory disease. Normally, construction workers and miners have more risks to develop silicosis because of their daily exposure and inhalation of crystalline silica.

However, when it comes to vaping, it is very unlikely to develop silicosis. In addition, chronic silicosis develops after a few decades of continuous exposure to crystalline silica.

Ceramic Wicks

Usually, even if you are a heavy vaper, ceramic wicks will last for several weeks. In other words, cotton wicks need to be replaced after several days of heavy use while ceramic ones last much longer.

Moreover, ceramic wicks don’t get easily burned as cotton does. To sum up, you don’t get dry throat hits as easily as vaping with cotton wicks.

Additionally, some vapers claim that ceramic wicks deliver a better and more powerful taste.

However, ceramic wicks have also some disadvantages. For instance, they don’t transport the e-juices with the same efficiency as cotton wicks. As a result of that, it can take a few seconds for the ceramic wick to soak again with enough e-liquid before you can take a new puff.

Furthermore, both ceramic and silica wicks can stand high temperatures.  However, if you are looking for a more efficient e-juice transportation, then ceramic wicks aren’t for you.

To sum up, the best wicking material for vaping, depends on e-liquid transportation, heat resistance and, of course, personal preferences.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel wicking materials aren’t that popular nowadays. Usually, only experienced vapers still use stainless steel mesh as a wicking material.

However, in the beginning of the vaping era, stainless steel wicks were quite popular.

Nevertheless, stainless steels are not easy to install, and it might conduct electricity. Therefore, it’s not a popular choice nowadays.

Stainless steel and hexavalent chromium

Some vapers are concerned about stainless steel and the release of hexavalent chromium if the stainless steel is corroded. However, when corrosion happens, it normally releases chromium in its trivalent state (Cr3+). Nonetheless, this state of chromium doesn’t suppose any health problems to humans.

In conclusion, stainless steel isn’t the best wicking material for vaping because of the difficulties to prepare it. On the other hand, these wicks last for a long time.

Finally, be careful with stainless steel and dry hits…The taste is terrible!

Rayon Wicks

Firstly, rayon wicks, like cotton, are very efficient e-liquid carriers. However, for rebuildable atomizers you’ll need to wrap more material around the coil. In other words, rayon in contrast to cotton, tends to shrink when it’s wet.

Another disadvantage of rayon is the taste that it delivers. For instance, some vapers claim that rayon changes the taste of the e-juice. In addition, many vapers prefer wick materials made of natural fibers (rayon is a synthetic fiber).

The best wicking material for vaping should be an efficient e-liquid carrier but also an efficient “flavor supplier”.

Cotton Wicks

By far, cotton wicks are the most popular and widely used of all the wick materials available in the vaping industry. Moreover, cotton is inexpensive and easy to get.

Furthermore, cotton is a very efficient carrier of e-juices. In other words, it doesn’t alter the taste of the e-juice, which is a huge advantage over rayon wicks.

Cotton is considered by many the best wicking material for vaping. On one hand, it has many pros such as: e-juice delivery, inexpensive and it doesn’t alter the flavor of the e-liquid.

On the other hand, “dry hits” can taste like burned and the cotton can get burned pretty easily.

Best Wicking Material for Vaping: Conclusion

The best wicking material for vaping depends on e-juice absorption and delivery, durability and taste.

The sub-ohm era has established cotton as the preferable wicking material.

Moreover, other wicking materials such as silica or stainless steel are in decline because these materials are more difficult to handle than cotton or rayon.

Finally, it also depends on your personal taste. For instance, most of RDA users can choose the wicking material of their preference. However, sub-ohm devices use mostly cotton or ceramic wicks.

How to Make Your Own Vape Juice

A DIY is a homemade e-liquid version of commercial e-liquids. Many vapers have opted to make their own vape juices because of the flavor bans and also because they want to have more control over what they are vaping.

DIY e-liquids is a good solution for vapers who still want to vape different e-liquid flavors.

Vape juices are quite simple, and you won’t need that many ingredients. There are many websites with lots of recipes nonetheless, in this blog post, we will give you some e-liquid recipes.

Easiest Way to Make Vape Juice

It’s simple, you need to mix mainly two ingredients: PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin). These two components are the base liquid. Then, you need nicotine and flavor concentrates.

Firstly, you will need to get both VG and PG. Buy at least 100 ml for each of them. After you get both PG and VG, you need to add flavorings into the solutions. For this purpose, you can access many DIY vape juice flavoring recipes available online.

Next step, you need to add nicotine into the solutions. Nonetheless, you don’t need to add nicotine if you want to make a nicotine-free e-liquid (the same applies to flavorings).

The process is simple, just fil the bottle up to the middle with VG and the rest with PG. Then, add approximately 10 to 15 drops of flavorings. After you mix all these components, shake the bottle and leave aside for a few hours.

What Do You Need to Make E-Liquid?

VG and PG (Base Liquid): You can use a ration of 50:50 or 70:30 VG: PG. It depends on your vape preferences. If you want to feel more a throat hit, then a 50:50 VG:PG ratio is the best option for you. You can even mix a 70:30 PG:VG ratio for more throat hit. On the other hand, if you want denser clouds then add more VG to your solutions, for example a 70:30 VG:PG ratio.

What’s an RTA Tank?

Many vapers prefer to customize their vapes. There are many reasons why they prefer to customize them. For instance, many vapers prefer to build their own coils instead of vaping pre-built coils that they would need to change every one or two weeks.

RTA stands for rebuildable tank atomizer, and the main difference with an RDA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) is simple. As its name indicates, an RTA comes with a tank while an RDA is just a building deck where the vapers directly drip e-liquid onto the coils.

An RTA tank has an e-liquid capacity that usually ranges from 2 ml to 6 ml.

Components of an RTA Tank

An RTA is not very different from standard vape tanks. These are the components of an RTA tank:

1. RTA Tank: Drip Tip

Like any other vape tank, an RTA comes with a drip tip. This is the mouthpiece that the vaper uses to puff on while vaping. Drip tips come in a wide range of colors and materials. The most common materials are thermoplastics such as Delrin drip tips, PEI drip tips, wood, stainless-steel and even glass drip tips.

2. Top Cap

Most of RTAs are top filled. Once you unscrew it, you can access the filling holes to add e-liquid into the tank.

3. RTA Tank: Chimney

The chimney is part of the top section and it is located on the top of the chamber.

4. RBA Deck and Chamber

The chamber is placed on top of the posts, RBA deck, coils, and wicks. The chamber has slots (e-liquid holes) and the e-liquid flows down onto the coil and wicks.

RTAs, as RDAs, have an RBA deck. RTA have the posts, but unlike RDAs, RTA don’t have e-juice wells and instead they come with a housing for the wicks. Remember that RTAs are basically a rebuildable tank atomizer and therefore, RTAs don’t need an e-juice well.

In summary, an RTA is a tank with a rebuildable atomizer. Let’s check now the pros and cons of an RTA.

What are the Pros and Cons of an RTA Tank?

RTAs are better for vapers who want mote e-liquid capacity and convenience. Nonetheless, there are still vapers who prefer RDA atomizers because they believe they are less prone to leaking and they provide more intense flavor.

RTA tank advantages and disadvantages.

How to Vape an RTA?

It’s not difficult to vape a rebuildable tank atomizer. The only difference with standard tanks is that you need to build your own coils and wicks. There are many tutorials about how to build your coils and wicks for RTA tanks.

Rebuildable tank atomizer

The following video explains how to build an RBA for the Mulus pod system. It is not a tank, but a pod, however, the process is exactly the same:

How to build an RBA for a pod system, a similar process as an RTA tank.

In addition, you can check and read about the Ohm’s law to understand more about vaping RBAs and RTAs. The Ohm law in this case, means that the lower the resistance of the coil the more power output we get.

The bigger the current the more electricity is flowing. In other words, the electric current measured in A (amps) equals the voltage (V) divided by ohms (Ω). Below, the formula to calculate the electric current:

I = V/R

RTA Tanks: Conclusion

Aspire has launched some RBA tanks and pods. In addition, we are going to launch a new rebuildable tank atomizer soon. These tanks are a good option for vapers who want more e-liquid capacity and build their own coils. There are many reasons why a vaper prefers RTAs over standard tanks. For example, with a rebuildable tank atomizer, you don’t need to constantly buy pre-built coils. In addition, an rebuildable tank atomizer is more effective than classic RDA atomizers.

Caffeine Vape: Is it Harmful to Vape Caffeine?

Most of e-liquids are either nicotine e-liquid or non-nicotine ones. However, there are also e-liquids containing other substances such as vitamins or caffeine e-liquids. A caffeine vape usually combines nicotine and caffeine. A combination of caffeine and nicotine will increase alertness and concentration. On the other hand, a combination of caffeine and nicotine may increase heartbeat, nervousness, and perspiration.

What is Caffeine?

A caffeine vape acts as a central nervous system stimulant. Caffeine is considered the world’s most consumed psychoactive substance and it is legal and unregulated. It is found in many plants in Africa, East Asia and South America and it help to protect plants from insects.

Caffeine has been researched for its properties and protective effects against diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. However, some people experience increase anxiety and insomnia if the consume caffeine. The US FDA has classified caffeine as GRAS (generally recognized as safe).

There are many plants that contain caffeine. The two most common ones are Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora. Other plants that contain caffeine are cocoa plants such as Theobroma cacao, tea plants or kola nuts.

There are many products that contain caffeine like coffee, tea, energy drinks, soft drinks, chocolate and also inhalation products.

What is a Caffeine Vape?

A caffeine vape is just a vape that contains a caffeine e-liquid. When you vape caffeine or any other substance, it enters the bloodstream much faster than if you ingest it. Consequently, a caffeine vape will give you a faster dose of caffeine than a cup of coffee.

Caffeine vapes are controversial with some sources claiming that nicotine needs to be heated at lower temperatures than nicotine for an effective vaporization. In addition, some scientists are skeptic about caffeine vapes. These sources claim that we don’t have enough research on caffeine absorption through the lungs. Moreover, you will get much higher caffeine doses if you drink coffee than vaping them. In short, you will have to vape lots of caffeine vapes to get the same effect as a cup of coffee.

We need more information about the effectiveness of caffeine vapes. In addition, vaping caffeine doesn’t really get that much sense as caffeine is never combusted like nicotine. Let’s remember that vaping was first invented as a safer and healthier alternative to tobacco smoking.

Is it Risky to Vape Caffeine?

We cannot affirm that vaping is entirely safe.  However, the risks of inhaling caffeine would be similar to risks of inhaling non-nicotine or nicotine e-juices. The risks of vaping caffeine are probably the same as vaping any other e-liquid.

It will not be more dangerous than any other e-liquid, but you will not probably find that much motivation to vape caffeine. Nicotine vaping is a way of inhaling nicotine without burning the plant material. On the other hand, a coffee drinker will not have the motivation to vape caffeine and risk any reason to expose the lungs to a potential risk. In short, it is not necessary.

Some caffeine vapes have been promoted as a way to have coffee when you are on the go. In other words, a way to get an energy boost without actually drinking coffee.

Caffeine e-liquids have been marketed as a fast and efficient alternative to coffee beverages. For instance, they state that coffee takes time to prepare while a caffeine vape is just about inhaling and that’s all. Nonetheless, there are also instant coffee drinks that takes just a few seconds to prepare and there is not a real need for a caffeine vape. Therefore, considering its potential risks, caffeine vapes were just a passing fad.

Caffeine Vape: Conclusion

A caffeine vape may not have enough caffeine in them to be effective stimulants. In addition, we don’t know that much about its potential risks. We know that vaping is an effective alternative to tobacco or cannabis smoking, but there is not a real need to switch from coffee beverages to coffee vapes.

You can try a caffeine vape with nicotine, but we don’t recommend you combine both substances. What’s more, you can easily enjoy your coffee with your favorite nicotine vapes.
